“Keys of Knowledge – Atoms that explode”
Welcome to the world of heavy elements; those that explode without any external stimulus. Today’s lesson covers the “Radioactive Decay Constant” in uranium, thorium and radium. This information feature is really a blast.
“Alone against Talpa”
A new supermetal is emerging deep within the Earth. Now North Am has lost contact with the colony of scientists that made the discovery. Did a technical error send the researchers and their families to ruin? Could the creatures known as troglodytes be responsible? Magnus and Senator Clane were sent to the drill site to investigate.
“A case of nerves”
Commander Zarz and his crew were exemplary ambassadors aboard Captain Johner’s spaceship en route to Earth. The question is, did their human counterparts fare just as well in the exchange program? It would seem, not so much.
Aboard the alien ship, crew members Ric and crew members Mac have had little contact with each other recently due to the cramped living conditions. The atmosphere also left little appetite for the suboptimal breathing conditions. To pass the time, all four men have agreed to explore the ship and see if they can learn a thing or two about alien technology. Unfortunately, their timing is for the birds. A dangerous anomaly has sent the energy core into a catastrophic meltdown.
“Key of Knowledge – Turning and Bending”
Gold Key presents several exercises that you can add to your training program.
review
This is one of the better Magnus stories early in the series. Robert Schäfer And Eric Freiwald were among the best storytellers in the first editions. Russ Manning has certainly shaped a unique world with his art. I love his alien designs for the Captain Johner stories. If you’re looking for retro sci-fi comics, definitely check out Magnus. I give this one four out of five stars.
