The story is described:

The three discoveries made by an independent interstellar object from another galaxy heralded an era of unprecedented prosperity, allowing humanity to expand across the entire solar system.

Gravity control. Wicking contacts. Cognitive embodiment.

However, less than ten years after its discovery, the organism that made these three discoveries suddenly spread, giving rise to an aggressive, self-replicating ecosystem.

Humanity has come to see this unknown ecosystem as the Apocalypse.

For three months, humanity fought the Apocalypse until it came to a halt in orbit above Earth. Humanity was forced to abandon the planet, naming that year AA 1, the first year after the apocalypse.

By AA 45, children born on the Moon and in space colonies had never known life without the Apocalypse.

On the surface of the moon, a boy named Rei Azumi wakes up.

You can watch the anime’s trailer below.

The main character Ray Azumi is voiced by Takeo Otsuka. Described as a war orphan who lost his parents in an apocalypse attack, he serves as the designated pilot for Gundam ZERO. Takeo Otsuka also shared a comment about joining the series:

“It’s a great honor to be part of a new entry in the Gundam series. Director Kamiyama’s story gave me a lot to think about in each episode, and I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge as I approached each recording session. I’m also very excited to see how this project unfolds as a mixed media project spanning both anime and video games. I hope you look forward to Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO!”

Director Kenji Kamiyama also commented on creating a completely original Gundam timeline:

“When I was approached with the idea of creating a ‘Gundam Collection in an entirely new timeline, which is neither the Universal Century nor the Common Era’, I found myself wrestling with all sorts of questions. What would replace the Earth Federation and the Principality of Zeon? What would happen to the New Style concept? What about Minovsky particles? And where did the war fit into all of this?”

The more you ask the question of what essentially makes a Gundam ‘Gundam’, the further away you get from the creative excitement that should have driven the project. So I stepped back and reminded myself: I had the opportunity to create my own Gundam from the ground up for a series I’ve loved for years. What could be more exciting than that? Once I found my way back to that excitement, Gundam’s new and unexpected personality began to take shape.

The Gundam is the Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO.

The original Mobile Suit Gundam The television anime premiered in 1979, and eventually became one of the most influential media franchises in Japan. since then, Gundam Expanded through numerous TV series, films, OVAs, manga, novels, model kits, and video games across multiple timelines. Unlike previous standalone alternate universes, Project RG introduces a new interconnected setting where both anime and… Orbit Gundam Rouge Telling different stories in the same continuity. The game was first announced during Summer Game Fest 2026.
